Sub-Zero Appliance Repair
Sub-Zero makes refrigeration and nothing else. That focus is the reason the units last, and it is also why they fail in ways a general refrigerator technician will not recognise.
The defining feature is dual refrigeration: the fresh-food and freezer compartments run on separate sealed systems, each with its own evaporator. Most refrigerators share one. It is why a Sub-Zero holds humidity better — and it means a fault in one compartment tells you almost nothing about the other.
If your freezer is fine and your refrigerator is warm, that is not a contradiction on a Sub-Zero. It is a clue.
The Sub-Zero line we service
Built-in refrigeration
The classic over-and-under and side-by-side units. Common calls: warm fresh-food compartment with a working freezer, condensation along the door gasket, and ice buildup on one evaporator.
refrigerator repair ›Designer and integrated columns
Panel-ready units flush with cabinetry. The tight installation is the complication — service access, door alignment against custom panels, and hinge adjustment that has to account for panel weight.
refrigerator repair ›PRO series
Stainless commercial-style units with glass doors on some models. Door heater and seal faults show as condensation; on glass-door models a failed heater fogs the pane.
Undercounter refrigeration and drawers
Beverage centres, refrigerator drawers and combination units. Drawer runners, gasket wear and drain blockages dominate.
freezer repair ›Wine storage
Dual-zone units where one zone drifts while the other holds. Usually a damper or a zone sensor rather than the compressor.
wine cooler repair ›Ice makers
Built-in and standalone. Low or no production is more often a water-supply or fill-valve fault than a module failure.

What Sub-Zero owners should know
Advanced testing for compressors, start devices, refrigerant flow, and sealed system performance.
Dual refrigeration means one warm compartment is a narrow clue, not a whole-unit failure
Because each compartment has its own sealed system, a warm refrigerator with a working freezer points at that side's evaporator, fan or defrost circuit — not at a dying compressor. On a single-system refrigerator the same symptom would mean something quite different.
The condenser needs cleaning, and neglect looks like a serious fault
Sub-Zero specifies periodic condenser cleaning. A clogged condenser makes the unit run long, warm and loud — symptoms that read as an expensive failure and are often resolved with access, a brush and a vacuum.
The air purification cartridge is a consumable
Many units carry a replaceable air purification cartridge with a service life measured in months, not years. It does not cause cooling faults, but a spent cartridge is a common reason owners think something is wrong.
Deciding whether a Sub-Zero unit is still worth fixing? Our repair-or-replace guide names the one repair that ends each appliance — and on a built-in that line sits much further out.

Sub-Zero repair — frequently asked questions
Do you repair Sub-Zero ovens or dishwashers?
Sub-Zero does not make them. Its sister brands do: Wolf for cooking and Cove for dishwashers, and we service both.
My freezer is fine but the refrigerator is warm. Is the compressor failing?
Probably not. Sub-Zero runs a separate sealed system per compartment, so a fault on one side does not implicate the other. The likely causes are that side's evaporator fan, defrost circuit or sensor.
Is a 20-year-old Sub-Zero worth repairing?
Often yes — they are built for long service life and parts availability is good. Whether it makes sense depends on the specific fault, and our technician will tell you honestly if it does not.
