Gaggenau sits at the top of the BSH group, above Thermador and Bosch, and it is built to a different brief: professional equipment adapted for a home, with none of the styling softened.
The signature is modularity. A Vario cooktop is not one appliance — it is a row of independent units set side by side, each with its own controls and its own electronics. A gas Vario, an induction Vario and a Teppan Yaki can share a countertop and share nothing else.
That changes the first question on every service call. When one section of a Gaggenau cooktop stops working, the others are usually irrelevant to the diagnosis.

One dead Vario module is one appliance, not a cooktop failure
Because each Vario unit is independent, a failure is contained. Owners often describe 'the cooktop' as broken when a single module is at fault — and the repair is correspondingly smaller. Tell us which section, and what type it is.

Is Gaggenau the same as Bosch or Thermador?
All three sit under BSH, which helps with engineering and parts channels. Gaggenau is the top line and its main components are specific to it, so sourcing is narrower.
One section of my Vario cooktop stopped working.
Vario units are independent modules, so that is usually a contained fault rather than a whole-cooktop failure. Tell us which module and whether it is gas, induction or a specialty unit.
My combi-steam oven makes weak steam.
Most often scale in the water circuit. A proper descale restores it in a large share of these calls, without a part.
