Miele designs to a stated 20-year service life and builds most of its own components rather than sourcing them. That shapes both what fails and what a repair costs.
The upside is that a fifteen-year-old Miele is usually worth fixing. The complication is that the parts are Miele's own — not shared platforms — so sourcing is specific and lead times are real.

Poor cleaning on a Miele dishwasher is often a detergent question
Miele's dosing systems and cycle design assume particular detergent behaviour. Owners switching from another brand's habits — wrong product, wrong amount, or filling a dispenser the machine expects to manage itself — see results that look like a mechanical fault and are not.
Heat-pump dryers are supposed to run long
A T1 takes longer than a vented dryer by design and runs cooler. That is not a defect. What is worth attention is a cycle that keeps getting longer over months — that pattern points to the lint filters or the heat exchanger needing cleaning.
Parts are Miele's own, so sourcing is specific
Very little is shared with other manufacturers. Expect an ordered part rather than one from the van on anything structural, and expect a stated lead time before you agree to the work.

Frequently yes. The machines are designed for long service and parts availability holds up well. Whether a specific repair makes sense depends on the fault, and we will tell you when it does not.
My Miele dryer takes two hours. Is it broken?
Probably not. Heat-pump dryers run longer and cooler than vented ones by design. A cycle that has been getting steadily longer over months is the signal worth acting on.
