The lid lock is the most misdiagnosed part on a top-load washer
It tells the control board the machine is safe to spin. When it fails the washer fills, washes, then simply stops — which reads as a dead motor or transmission. The switch is inexpensive and the symptom is distinctive once you know it.
Clear the vent before replacing a dryer fuse
The thermal fuse is usually the failed part, but a restricted vent is usually why it failed. Replacing the fuse alone means doing the job twice, and the second time is not covered by the first repair.
